The Losantiville Café and Cincinnati Dining Room are off the main lobby. Their locations are both above ground and. Professor Susan Ackerman ’80 will deliver a short lecture, “The Story of the Dead Sea Scrolls,” discussing the discovery of the Scrolls and their importance. Made up of Biblical, apocryphal, and sectarian manuscripts, the Dead Sea Scrolls provide insight into faith and religious practice in the ancient world. Over the next 10 years, almost a thousand scrolls, miraculously preserved, were excavated from the area. In November 1946, a Bedouin shepherd fell into a cave near the Dead Sea and stumbled upon one of the greatest archaeological discoveries of all time.
